Seeing the doctor

Appointments

The surgery runs by appointment. We keep slots back each morning for people who become unwell that day, so if you need to be seen urgently, ring early and say so.

Booking

How to book

  1. Phone the surgery

089 483 7929, Monday to Friday between 9:00 and 17:00. Lines are busiest first thing — if your need is routine, mid-morning is usually quieter.

  2. Tell us roughly what it is about

Not the details — just enough for us to give you the right length of appointment. Everything you tell reception is confidential.

  3. Let us know if you need longer

A standard appointment is 15 minutes and covers one problem properly. If you have several issues, ask for a double appointment when you book.

Choosing the right slot

Types of appointment

Standard — 15 minutes

One problem, dealt with properly. Suitable for most new symptoms, reviews and results discussions.

Extended — 30 minutes

For several problems at once, complex issues, mental health reviews, or our allergy and weight-management clinics.

Telephone consultation

For results, medication queries and follow-ups that do not need an examination. We will ring you within an agreed window.

Chronic disease review

A scheduled, longer review for diabetes, asthma, COPD and heart conditions, usually with bloods taken beforehand.

Medicals

Driving, pre-employment, insurance and sports medicals. These take longer and are booked as a dedicated slot.

Good to know

Before and after your visit

What should I bring?
  • Your Medical Card or GP Visit Card, if you have one
  • A list of your current medication, including anything bought over the counter
  • Any hospital or consultant letters relating to the problem
  • Photo ID if this is your first visit
  • Your blood glucose or blood pressure readings, if you record them
How do I get my test results?

Most blood results are back within three to five working days. We will contact you if anything needs action; if you would like to hear either way, ring the surgery after 14:00 and we will arrange for the doctor to speak to you.

If you have consented to SMS notification on your registration form, we can text you to let you know results are available.

What if I need to cancel?

Please give us at least two hours' notice so we can offer the slot to someone else. Appointments missed without notice may be charged — see our cancellation policy.

Can I bring someone with me?

Of course. You are welcome to bring a family member, friend or interpreter. You may also ask for a chaperone to be present for any examination — see our chaperone policy. Children and patients under 16 must attend with a parent or guardian.

Do you run on time?

We try hard to. Occasionally an emergency or a consultation that turns out to need much longer will put the clinic behind — we will tell you at reception if there is a significant delay. We would rather give the person ahead of you the time they need, and we would do the same for you.

How do I order a repeat prescription?

Phone or email the surgery and allow two working days. Full details are on our repeat prescriptions page.
