Caring for our community
Kilmessan General Practice was founded to bring thorough, personal family medicine back into the village — so that people here are not travelling to Trim or Navan for routine care, and so that the doctor who sees you today is the one who saw you last time.

How we work
You see the same doctor. Your history is known, so you do not have to start from the beginning each visit.
Appointment lists are kept manageable so consultations are unhurried and questions get answered.
Everything you tell us stays between us, and is handled in line with GDPR and Medical Council guidance.
We are a village practice. We know the schools, the pharmacies and the families — and that makes care better.
Everyone at the practice is bound by the same duty of confidentiality as the doctor. If reception asks what your appointment is about, it is only so that we can give you the right amount of time — you never have to say more than you want to.
The team
We are deliberately a small team. It means you get to know us and we get to know you — and it means messages do not fall between the cracks.
The practice works closely with local pharmacies, public health nurses, physiotherapy and mental health services, and with the hospitals in Navan, Drogheda and Dublin when a referral is needed.
Outside our opening hours, urgent care is provided by NEDOC, the North East out-of-hours GP co-operative.
The surgery
You will find us at H.A. Thornes Bar on the main street — a familiar building in the middle of the village, now home to the practice.
We welcome patients from Kilmessan and the surrounding townlands and villages, including:
